Recently a video of a brawl between two BJP leaders of Sant Kabir Nagar went viral. Both of them hold prominent positions. One is a Member of Parliament (Sharad Tripathy) while the other is a Member of the Legislative Assembly (Rakesh Singh Baghel). The name on the foundation stone of certain road was the bone of contention and it led to this unprecedented incident. The kind of words they are using for each other has become the talk of the town. One can easily see through the prejudice and vanity these ‘Netas’ carry with them.

As the video went viral, the BJP issued notice against both the leaders in a hurry. But as a voter and a citizen, we should ask certain questions to these political parties:
1. On what basis these leaders are appointed to represent hundreds of thousands of people – despite lacking basic temperament and tolerance?
2. All political parties boast about their principles, ideologies, and the unity amongst their workers, but in reality what kind of an example are these leaders setting?
3. If the lawmakers don’t care about the laws then who would?
As a democracy, we still have a long way to go. It seems like we’re at a premature state. We need reforms in our democratic system. Also as a voter, we have to ensure that we do not vote on the basis of caste, creed or religion and bring such leaders to power.
